Over the past few weeks, the support for our Mountain Running Film Festival has been overwhelming. The venue, sponsors, and community at large (locally, nationally, and internationally) have made this event come together in a way that has exceeded our highest expectations. So with that, it brings great pleasure to share some very exiting news about the 2013 Mountain Running Film Festival--the line up. In running terms, we've assembled a world class field.
Not only are we featuring the top mountain running films of 2013, we're proud to host the North American Premier of what promises to be among the top mountain running films of 2014! So without further adieu, here's our tentative schedule of events:
6:30: Doors Open/Montana Slideshow
Take a few moments to meet some of our event sponsors before making your way into the main theater to take in an animated Montana slideshow assembled by Whitefish photographer Myke Hermsmeyer and featuring the work of a number of local photographers. There's a good chance that if you've participated in a trail race in western Montana this year it'll be showcased on the big screen.
7:00: Montana Trail Crew welcomes you to The Wilma.
Bobby Grillo with Montana Conservation Corps says a few words about his organization.
A portion of the proceeds from this evening's festival is dedicated to the Montana Conservation Corps. The MCC's mission is to inspire young people through hands-on conservation service to be leaders, stewards of the land, and engaged citizens who improve their communities.

Three best friends (Montana Trail Crew's own Jason Schlarb and Jeremy Wolf, along with former MSU Bobcat teammate Matt Lowe) running with lightweight packs through the Italian Dolomites discover the challenges and joys of charting their own course through a foreign land.
The Ruby Muir Story (2013, 6 min)
Ruby Muir is one of new Zealand's most promising young trail runners. This is the story of how she discovered running, what drove her to it, and how it has helped her heal.
An Endurance Life (2013, 25 min)
Montana Trail Crew is honored to host the North American Premier of a brand new film featuring renowned French mountain runner Sebastien Chaigneau. Take in some of the world's most awe inspiring mountain landscapes and get a glimpse into the commitment and free spirit that inspires this outstanding and passionate athlete.
In the High Country is an impressionistic mountain running film: a visual essay about a life in the mountains. It looks at running from a new perspective, both visually and in the style of running. This kind of movement blurs the lines between running and climbing, between human and mountain. The result of a year-long collaboration between filmmaker Joel Wolpert and mountain-runner Anton Krupicka.
Intermission - take a break and grab a cold beverage, or remain in the theater for another showing of the Montana slideshow.
Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run (2013, 15 min)
Every year for the last 25 years, runners push themselves to the limit in a grueling 100 mile race in the mountains above Los Angeles.
A Fine Line (2012, 52 min)
Winner of Special Jury Mention at the 2013 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival and one of the most highly acclaimed running films ever produced, A Fine Line features Killian Jornet on a breathtaking journey over the spectacular snow-covered peaks of the Alps.
